There's Plenty of Vroom to Play in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo
Adventure into some of our region’s uncharted territory on the back of a quad and discover its many natural gems. The opportunities for off-roading are endless, and OHV staging areas and trails are accessible just steps away from Fort McMurray's city limits. You can go on an afternoon adventure, take a day trip into our beautiful boreal backcountry, or even some overnight excursions.
You haven't lived until you've Sherped in the wild

The Athabasca Sand Dunes
Richardson Backcountry
Looking to get away from it all? To a place with zero Wi-Fi and one-hundred percent wilderness? Then the Richardson Backcountry is for you, taking you to the most northern lakes in Alberta and the largest sand dune complex in Canada—the Athabasca Sand Dunes. The trails are well-maintained and mud-free, but remember to bring a first aid kit, compact tool kit, trail map, tow strap and winch, extra fuel, food and water, and body protection including a helmet, goggles and gloves—just in case. Also, you'll want to pack your camping gear, food, and wilderness survival kit with bear deterrents as there are no developed camping facilities along the way.
