Tradeshows Return to Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce

Launched by the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce 35 years ago and transferred to Fort McMurray Tourism shortly after, tradeshows in our region will once again be part of our local Chamber. This change enables Tourism, now an integral part of Wood Buffalo Economic Development Corporation, to hyper-focus on tourism development and growing our visitor economy.

“Tradeshows are an important part of our community that deliver economic impact and are best delivered by our local business community,” says Kevin Weidlich, CEO & President of the Wood Buffalo Economic Development Corporation. “Tourism will maintain focus on the important task of showcasing the endless beauty and unexpected adventure of Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo.”

Tradeshows present a great opportunity for our community and our business sector as they allow local entrepreneurs to test our market, support increased exposure for existing businesses, and give residents access to products and services from businesses that don’t have store fronts or an online presence in our region.

“Other Chambers in similar-sized cities manage tradeshows with great success, we will build on shared best practices, while breathing new life into these events and finding new ways to attract vendors,” says Dianna de Sousa, Executive Director of the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce.

Despite the inability to host large in-person events, new tradeshow models are being created to adapt to existing health and safety requirements. For more information on upcoming Tradeshows visit: https://www.fortmcmurraytradeshows.com/
