Call to photographers to showcase the Wood Buffalo Region

Tourism, Wood Buffalo Economic Development Corporation (WBEDC), launches a new campaign to capture imagery of the adventure, experience and beauty found within the Wood Buffalo region. The acquired photography will be used to feature the tourism opportunities that exist in the region to attract visitors to explore Wood Buffalo.

“The goal of this campaign is to draw out photos that bring our region’s stories to life and showcase the adventurous opportunities our region has to offer,” says Michael Sieger, Vice President of Tourism for WBEDC. “We are looking through the lens of a visitor and the experience a visitor could expect to find when they come to our region.”

The campaign, Calling all Photographers, looks to all professional and amateur photographers for storytelling photos—photos that convey an immersive experience within the region and portray our diversity of people, places and interests. The imagery should be distinct to the region, photos that could only be taken here, that amplify how the region stands out from other travel destinations.

“This campaign is a great opportunity for photographers to be a part of telling our story to the world, and especially to the visitors we want to attract to our region and have explore our big backyard,” says Kevin Weidlich, President & CEO of the WBEDC.

The campaign will run until the summer of 2020 and selected entries will receive payment for their photos to be used in WBEDC’s tourism marketing initiatives. More details on the photography guidelines, samples of storytelling photos, and a recommended list of photos can be found at www.explorewoodbuffalo.photos.
