Starting a business in FMWB

Where good ideas come to live.

Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo is wired for invention, populated by problem-solvers from around the world who live next door to the world’s biggest mystery: how to power the world more efficiently, more sustainably, and more profitably.

We are a city of creators, inventors and problem solvers. We’ve shown that we can scale global businesses from one of the most northern regions in the world. We’ve created the best city for female entrepreneurs in Canada, and transformed four discarded computers into the finest school for young coders in the country.

PARTNERING TO BUILD THE LARGEST OFF-GRID SOLAR AND STORAGE PROJECT IN CANADA.

Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation, Mikisew Cree First Nation, and Métis Local 125 — Three Nations Energy LP — are partnering to build the largest off-grid solar and storage project in Canada. The solar panels will begin operating in the fall of 2020, generating the same amount of fuel produced by 800,000 litres of diesel, and reducing the Fort Chipewyan’s current reliance on diesel for fuel and power.
